How to Fix Error 83 on Disney Plus?
There are two main reasons for Error 83 on Disney Plus.
The first reason: Server timeout
If the servers are overloaded, the Disney+ session can’t connect to the servers fast enough to pass a DRM/account check.
In this case, you will see Error 83 on your screen. This is the most common reason.
To solve the problem in this case you can:
- Try again: Server issues usually stay for a bit, so if at first, you don’t succeed, try, try again.
- If there’s a Widespread issue near you, or there is a big online event. This causes overload on the servers. In this case, you need to wait.
- Switch from Wi-Fi to LTE: turning off Wi-Fi and streaming over LTE instead can be a good idea for many times.
- If you are watching on a laptop for the first time, you’ll get a prompt asking to let Disney+ check the eligibility of your device for playback. By the time you click “Allow” and let the DRM check go through, it’s usually timed out and will spit out Error 83. When this happens, click “Dismiss” and then try to watch any video again.
- Getting Error 83 for days and days? Perpetual Error 83 messages could be a sign of your IP being blocked by Disney+ for whatever reason.
The second reason: Incompatible platform
Error 83 happens when your device can’t pass the DRM check that Disney+ requires before it begins playing videos.
There are a few things that can cause DRM failures on your side:
- If you are using Linux, Disney+ wasn’t supported on Linux.
- Your browser not supported: Disney+ only lists support for a couple of the more popular desktop browsers: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Microsoft Explorer, and Apple Safari. If you’re not using one of these, try Chrome instead.
- Browsers on entertainment consoles and Smart TVs aren’t supported. If a Disney+ app isn’t available for your console or TV, try Chromecast or AirPlay instead to get it on your TV.
- If none of the above-mentioned reasons exists, maybe you have to switch to a different device.
