Windows 10 has been around for five years, and as we know Microsoft offers a minimum of 10 years of support for each version of its OS, at least five years of Mainstream Support, followed by five years of Extended Support.
Mainstream support and extended support offers security fixes and program updates, The mainstream support period also includes actual help with technical questions via phone, email, or chat. You can access these from support.microsoft.com.
Also, there are paid support options, call Premier and Essential Support, for more complex situations.
Major feature updates are released twice a year for Windows 10 via the Semi-Annual Channel, typically in March and in September, and the Updates are cumulative, with each update built upon those that preceded it. so Microsoft recommends installing each update as it is available.
When will be windows 10 support end date?
According to the Windows Lifecycle page, Mainstream support for Windows 10 will continue until Oct. 13, 2020, and extended support ends on Oct. 14, 2025. But the situation is a bit more complicated than that.
When Windows 10 first came out, a Microsoft employee called it “the last version of Windows.” This means that Microsoft will support the OS with continuous updates instead of releasing Windows 11!
Actually there’s no more information about windows 11, but it could be released this year according to leaks.
Till now the company has released Windows 10 Home, Enterprise, Education, Pro, Pro Education, and Pro for Workstations editions, and every edition got 8 updates.
The last one was on Nov. 12, 2019, which added some new productivity features, like the ability to create events directly from the Calendar flyout on the Taskbar, without having to open the Calendar app.
This update will end on May 11, 2021, for Home, Pro, Pro Education, and Pro for Workstations editions, and for Enterprise and Education editions will end on May 10, 2022.
